About the Film

Across America’s highways, parking lots, and arenas, a new kind of pilgrimage is unfolding. Gospel of Strings follows the believers who orbit the music of Billy Strings — a modern bluegrass prodigy turned unlikely spiritual figure — revealing a traveling community searching for redemption, connection, and meaning in a fractured age. It’s the story of a movement disguised as a fanbase, and the people who’ve built a culture around sound, faith, and the open road.

Billy Strings didn’t set out to lead anyone. But his music — a blazing fusion of bluegrass heritage and psychedelic improvisation — has become a cultural gravitational field. Thousands now follow him across the country, forming a roaming micro-society with its own rituals, hierarchies, conflicts, and care networks.

This film is not a biography of Billy Strings.

It is the story of the people who believe in him, and what their devotion reveals about America today.

About me

I’ve been chasing music since I was five years old, when my KISS records outnumbered my toys.

From Prince, INXS, and the Smiths to hip-hop, indie rock and noise, my tastes have always spanned genres and scenes. I hosted radio shows on 89.3 FM WNUR while at Northwestern University, DJ’d house and drum & bass, and spent most of my music youth in various underground scenes.

A 2018 trip to Jazz Fest sparked a now all-consuming love for the Grateful Dead and the jam band scene.

As a filmmaker with over two decades of creative experience, I’m bringing those passions together to capture the people, culture, and magic of the most exciting story in music today.
